earlier in the week, before a friday shoot, i suggested a trial run, fitting session, brainstorming stylist session with a model for a local seattle designer. I intetionally set out to shoot each shot with as little or no attention to detail in terms of focusing the shot, getting the correct angle, lighting, etc. i was interested in capturing the form and essence of the human being we had been graced to use as our canvas. shadows, blurs, overexposure, underexposures, flaws, freckles, flares, i wanted evey part of a PHOTOGRAPH to be the starting point to a conversation on WHAT defines a beautiful fashion image and more, why are we at times so reluctant to see fashion photography a brillant portal to art, not necessarily digitally manipulated graphically ehanced pieces, but deconstructed canvases to which we may paint our new picassos?
